Torrential rain and life-threatening lightning strikes could have

turned some of Asia's most important media moguls into crispy critters

during the 17th MEDIA Masters Golf Tournament, held recently on the

testing Panya Indra course in Thailand.

But by the time the organisers decided to call the event off - the first

time this has happened in Masters history - Russell Yeomans of

TMPW/Morgan & Banks had romped home, a worthy winner in a tournament

that is often the bane of low handicap golfers.

Cool-headed Russell staved off a nagging threat from Bryan O'Connor of

Events Asia, Nigel Oakins of Hong Kong iMail and several others,

including the ever-lurking Steve Marcopoto of Turner Broadcasting. When

the rain and lightning struck, however, it doused their hopes and meant

the lauded Green Jacket would be firmly draped around the shoulders of

Yeomans, the leader after two complete rounds.
