Nuffnang inks deal for Singapore office

SINGAPORE - Malaysian blog advertising community Nuffnang has launched in Singapore, securing an exclusive contract with local celebrity blogger Xia Xue.

Nuffnang is a Malaysia-based company that matches bloggers to advertisers, who typically place a display ad alongside the blog. This allows bloggers to earn money from sponsors every time someone visits his or her blog. Previously, said co-founder Cheo Ming Shen, bloggers had to rely on Google’s Adsense.

“With Adsense, there’s usually little relevancy between the blogger and advertiser. For example, some bloggers were stuck with companies selling green cards,” he said. “The reason Google does well in US is most funding comes through small- to medium-sized companies, but most (companies) in Singapore are not mature enough to advertise on blogs.

“We also arrange advertorials, but it’s up to the blogger. Just because you have an ad on your blog doesn’t mean you’re endorsing it.”

Nuffnang’s clientele include nearly 5,000 blogs in Malaysia and Singapore. Xia Xue’s blog gets over 20,000 hits per day, said Cheo.
