ALICE SPRINGS Overcoming access problems in the wake of the Ansett Australia airline debacle, the Northern Territory is to host Dreamtime, the Australian Tourist Commission's (ATC) incentive travel showcase. Some 150 incentive travel buyers and end-users will gather in Alice Springs at the newly opened Alice Springs Convention Centre on September 14 for the event. The two-day trade show will be followed by a trip to Uluru (Ayers Rock) to see how this natural icon can be best exploited for incentive travel winners. Delegates will then fan out to explore further Australian destinations' suitability for incentive travel experiences. "We're delighted to have secured Dreamtime as there are many misconceptions about cost, climate, expertise and access with regards to central Australia," Northern Territory Convention Bureau (NTCB) managing director Mr Peter Dunn said. "We have a range of great new incentive style products to show the world," he said. ATC managing director Mr Ken Boundy said a number of competitive bids for the Dreamtime tender had been submitted and the NTCB's was the strongest.
