CHALLENGES
The logistics of transporting delegates became one of the major challenges, resulting in two
transfer programmes – one for delegates flying to Macau and another for the majority of the
group flying into Hong Kong. The latter group was then transferred to Macau by ferry.
The second hurdle concerned the programme itself. “Macau can be challenging in terms of creating an exciting incentive programme as many of the delegates would have been before and may have already seen the majority of the historical sites,” says Sharon Lam, project manager for the event.
EventClicks came up with ‘Discover Macau’, a day-long treasure-hunt for delegates and their families to explore Macau in a novel way. Teams were provided with clues that they needed to solve in order to reach the next destination, while on the way being provided with the opportunity to sample various aspects of Macanese culture.
EXECUTION
The days were packed with elective activities such as golf and go-karting. The Skywalk X
at Macau Tower was also popular, with the delegates walking along the open platform
233m above ground, around the tower’s outer rim.
The Cooking Academy at the Wynn Macau was also a big hit. The chef led the group

The programme closed with a glamorous James Bond: Casino Royale-themed gala dinner. Delegates and their spouses were given fedora hats for the men and satin gloves for the
ladies. The night involved gambling tables with customised chips, Bond film character
talents, a card tricks expert and various live entertainment acts later in the evening.
VERDICT
“Justin, our MC, was terrific. He really made sure the audience participated by getting
people up on the stage to show off their funky dance moves and also participate in a fashion
walk,” says Ame Lai, on-site events manager.
“As the delegates took to the dance floor for the rest of the evening, it became evident
the night did not need an ice-breaker. The event was a rewarding experience, both for
delegates and their families.”

THE BRIEF Nortel, a software company, wanted to hold an incentive trip to reward their top 40 sales achievers and their spouses. EventClicks' Hong Kong office was asked to prepare the programme, called the 'Circle of Excellence', and four nights' accommodation at Wynn Macau Resort. It was the fifth time it had been asked to do organise this particular programme for Nortel.
