Leong’s new role comes almost two years after she left Grey Singapore and relocated to Beijing for the Nokia role. According to Nokia China communications director Thomas Jonsson, Leong will oversee the organisation responsible for marketing in Nokia’s various global markets, and will also lead liasion with Nokia’s agency partners.
She will report to the newly-appointed global head of marketing Pekka Rantala (Media, 16 July), and will remain in Beijing “for now.” The development comes shortly after Nokia named Wieden & Kennedy and JWT to handle global creative duties. Jonsson added that Leong’s successor in charge of China marketing remains “undecided”, although sources point to Yee Wee Koh as a likely contender.
