Nojorono Tobacco International hands media account to MPG in Indonesia

JAKARTA - Indonesian cigarette conglomerate Nojorono Tobacco International (NTI) has appointed MPG as its media agency-of-record for four of its cigarette brands following a four-way pitch involving Maxus, Activate and CS Media.

The account is estimated to be worth about US$2 million and includes Indonesia's fifth-largest cigarette company’s Minak Djinggo, Matra, Mikki and Niko brands.

Dentsu Media Cubic, the incumbent media AOR, will continue to handle NTI’s Clas Mild brand.

On the account win, Adrian Kusnadi, CEO of MPG Indonesia, said: “The Nojorono group has a very well-respected array of brands and it is an honour to be working with them.”

SK Biswas, regional director of MPG, attributed “superior implementation planning combined with sponsorship and content ideas” as key to the Havas firm's appointment.

“Cigarette advertising is restricted to late night time band and its crucial for Nojorono brands to cut through visibility post prime time,” said Biswas.

In February, NTI awarded the creative account for its Minak Djinggo brand to JWT following a three-way pitch.
