Nikkei Online partners with Brightcove for online video

TOKYO - Japanese media corporation Nikkei Inc. has partnered with online video platform, Brightcove, to standardise its online video operations across its newspaper domain, The Nikkei Online Edition.

According to the companies, the partnership enables Nikkei to launch advertising-supported online video features on its site and extend the reach of its video content through sharing and embedding features for third-party sites and social networks.

The platform is slated to launch on 23 March.

Brightcove has additionally teamed with Japan’s content-delivery network J-Stream to support streaming media services across Nikkei’s website properties.

Brightcove is a Boston-based company that provides video technology to media partners including Time, The New York Times and CondeNast as well as agencies such as VivaKi and Ogilvy. In December, Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten also partnered with Brightcove for online video.
