Nike hands CSR to Fleishman Hillard

ASIA-PACIFIC - Nike has handed its CSR assignments for China and Southeast Asia to Fleishman Hillard, after a final round of pitching believed to have included Edelman and Burson-Marsteller.

Nike global corporate responsibility communications director Erin Dobson confirmed the decision. Fleishman is charged with monitoring perceptions and responding to issues.

“It’s going to cover the full range of CSR activities,” said Fleishman Hillard SVP and Hong Kong GM Rachel Catanach. “Obviously a key element of that is market intelligence and how Nike can be a leader in terms of CSR in the various markets.”

Catanach and regional client services MD Joanne Wong will head the business at Fleishman.

Nike has been dogged by continuing labour problems at its factories in China and Southeast Asia in recent months. Earlier this year, a China-specific investigation into its mainland supply chain resulted in the company revealing widespread labour abuses.
