Nike and Volvo select MindShare to handle digital media in Japan

TOKYO - Nike is believed to have consolidated its media business with MindShare in Japan, having transferred its digital planning account to the agency from Daiko without calling a pitch.

Separately, Volvo is also understood to have appointed MindShare to handle its digital media business, which was previously held by Hakuhodo.

The reason behind the decisions is unclear, although both companies previously worked with MindShare in other areas of media planning and buying. The move by Volvo follows the switch of its strategic planning business from Dentsu Y&R to the GroupM agency earlier this year.

Nike’s creative account in Japan is handled by Wieden & Kennedy, while Beacon is responsible for the company’s digital content and retail marketing assingnments.  Volvo is aligned with Nitro, which launched an operation in Tokyo earlier this year.

No one from MindShare was available for comment on the developments.
