Newsweek Select rolls out in China to reach top execs

SHANGHAI: Newsweek Select has commenced a full-scale China launch with its June issue, expected to reach a circulation of 80,000. After soft-launching in Hong Kong in April, the publication will become the first major international current affairs title to publish a Chinese-language edition in Greater China.

A monthly, Newsweek Select will be published in the mainland by SinoWorld Media, part-owned by Hong Kong media conglomerate Vertex Group.

Newsweek Pacific edition general manager Frank Proctor said Newsweek Select will target premium consumers and business decision-makers.

"We're going at the very top end and most of the circulation will be in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou," he said. "We anticipate most of the advertising support will be from inside China."
