New Zealand Book Council takes top prize at Digital Media Awards

SHANGHAI - The New Zealand Book Council was the surprise winner of the prestigious Platinum Award at the 2008 Digital Media Awards held in Shanghai.

The ‘Read at work’ campaign (pictured), designed by Colenso BBDO New Zealand, impressed judges with its innovative use of technology on a minimum budget. The agency built a website that looked like a standard Windows XP desktop but which was actually filled with files containing works of fiction. The application allowed users to read in the office while appearing to be busy with work.

Other big winners at this year's awards show included Nike, which was named Digital Brand of the Year, and Guiness, which picked up the Digital Media Innovation Award for its ‘Passport to greatness’ campaign. OgilvyOne Worldwide was given the award for Interactive Agency of the Year.
