New STB campaign t0 target CEI business

SINGAPORE The Singapore Tourism Board has launched a US$108 million campaign designed to grow the local CEI industry and attract business events over the next five years.

Called 'BE in Singapore', the incentive scheme was developed in consultation with the local industry to attract key business events. The new schemes will support the evolving development needs of the CEI business while enhancing the existing benefits under the Make It Singapore Plus campaign. Aloysius Arlando, assistant chief executive (Business Travel & MICE Group), STB said: "Our goal is to be a top CEI destination that offers CEI visitors many opportunities to exchange ideas, network, explore business prospects and develop human capital." STB's Tourism 2015 Masterplan has targeted business travel and CEI business as key ingredients of Singapore's economy. The segment is expected to be instrumental in catapulting Singapore to achieve visitor arrivals totalling 17 million and tourism receipts of US$19 billion by 2015. Currently, business and CEI visitors constitute 25 per cent of Singapore's visitor arrivals and 30 per cent of total tourism receipts.
