Netflix is launching a new gaming app for kids called Netflix Playground, which features characters from popular titles including Peppa Pig, Sesame Street, and Dr. Seuss.
Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines are part of the initial launch, alongside US, the UK, and Canada. The app will debut globally on April 28.
Activities on the app range from puzzle-solving and memory matching to colouring, sticker creation, and cause-and-effect play. The games are designed to support early cognitive development.
Netflix Playground is included across all membership tiers at no additional cost, with no ads, in-app purchases or extra fees.
Netflix has been building its gaming vertical since 2021. The launch is a move to strengthen Netflix's position in children's programming, with the streaming giant licensing established third-party IP rather than building original characters from scratch.
The platform's best-performing games include Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, drawing 44 million downloads, and Squid Game: Unleashed, which recorded 21 million downloads.
The launch comes less than two weeks after Netflix raised prices across all its US subscription tiers for the second time in two years, with the premium plan now priced at US$26.99 a month. Meanwhile, APAC subscribers have not seen a corresponding price increase, with Netflix last raising prices in markets like Singapore in 2025.
