Neo@Ogilvy seals majority buy of GSI

NEW YORK - Neo@Ogilvy, one of WPP's digital and direct media networks, has acquired a majority stake in Global Strategies International (GSI), a search engine optimisation (SEO) specialist.

GSI has offices in China, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and the US, where it is headquartered.
“The plan is to integrate the GSI business into Neo and leverage its expertise on our footprint,” said Ken Mandel, Asia-Pacific CEO of Neo-@Ogilvy, which added Hong Kong and Australia to its network in January.

“We are now a one-stop- shop for search — we not only offer search engine marketing, or pay-per-click, but this acquisition allows us to cover ‘natural’ searches too.”

SEO enables websites to be better ‘crawled’ by search engines, and feature higher up in search results.

Sixty to 70  per cent of search links clicked on are ‘natural’ searches, according to Neo@Ogilvy, compared with 30 to 40 per cent for paid searches.
