NBC Universal expands suite of channels in Thailand

BANGKOK - NBC Universal has rolled out its Sci Fi, Universal and KidsCo channels in Thailand as the burgeoning Thai cable industry welcomes more content providers.

Distributed through Triple T Network, both the Sci Fi and Universal channels will be subtitled in Thai. Thailand is the third market in Asia-Pacific, after Singapore and Cambodia, to receive NBC Universal’s full suite of channels. The US broadcaster launched in Cambodia in September.

Raymund Miranda (pictured), MD of NBC Universal Global Networks Asia-Pacific, said: “Thailand has a significant satellite and cable base which continues to grow and represents an exciting opportunity for our organisation."

Tutchai Eddie Surisimpan, chairman of Triple T Network Company Limited Group, added: "The cable industry is poised for significant growth given the recent initiatives under Thai regulations."
