Naked plots 2009 India market entry

LONDON - Naked Communications is planning to open an office for the Indian market in Mumbai early next year, according to founding partner Jon Wilkins.

While details have yet to be finalised, Wilkins stated that discussion was underway as to prospective management, clients and operations.

"The overall picture is shaping up well and we have some interesting options emerging," he said.

Ravi Kiran, Starcom's chief executive for South/Southeast Asia, commented that while there was undoubtedly a need for an execution-neutral consultancy such as Naked in India, the firm would require patience in gaining acceptance in a market largely unused to paying purely for communications planning. He added that Naked would do well to “sweat it out” and avoid diluting its proposition.
