Mulcock departs in Dow Jones reshuffle

HONG KONG - Dow Jones Greater China managing director Douglas Mulcock has been made redundant, with the company promoting Lesley Kelly to the new position of MD of sales for Asia.

The development coincides with a global restructure of the company's Enterprise Media Group (EMG). A source indicated that another three mid-level Hong Kong-based executives on the Wall Street Journal Asia, part of the company's consumer division, could be retrenched next week, with one to two Singapore managers suffering the same fate.

Dow Jones has also promoted Hormuz Mehta to the position of director of advertising sales, Southeast Asia and South Asia.

Meanwhile, the global EMG restructure, which could cost up to 100 jobs globally, follows the company's recent acquisition of Factiva. A source said the two moves were part of the companies cost savings efforts.

"With all the changes in the US, the US guys have looked at the international division, and checked how they can save money. They seem to think Factiva will give them economies of scale and savings efficiencies," said the source.

A Dow Jones representative said Mulcock's departure was unconnected to the EMG restructure.
