Sandy Monteiro will join Universal Music Malaysia as managing director on December 1. Monteiro will take over from outgoing managing director Ian Ng, who is leaving the company for personal reasons. Monteiro has been a member of the music industry since joining Warner Music in 1993 as head of its international repertoire division. He was involved in setting up MCA's first Malaysian operations, helping the label break new acts such as No Doubt and Aqua. He also served for three years as executive director of the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia. Monteiro joins the company from Soundbuzz, where he was general manager for Southeast Asia and regional director for music and marketing.
