Motojeepneys woo Manila commuters

Motorola is offering an unusual incentive in a bid to woo low-tier consumers - free transport.

The Motojeepney offers unlimited free rides to any consumer carrying a Motorola handset. A fleet of 32 Moto-jeepnies travel across 15 routes in the city every Monday. Passengers simply show their Motorola phone to the 'MotoSidekick', travelling with the jeeps, to get a ride.
The Motojeepney is also adorned with bright yellow trimmings and blasts its familiar HelloMoto tune through speakers. It is not, however, the first Moto-branded vehicle to hit city streets. In March, Motorola launched the Motobus, a roving showroom filled with the latest Motorola products and gadgets.
Within developing markets, Motorola has made wide use of vehicles to connect with its consumers. In Indonesia, for example, Motobikes — Motorola salesmen on motorcycles — have been successful in targeting hard-to-reach villagers (Media, 11 August).
