Mother UK snaps up Burnett stars from Singapore

Renowned UK creative hotshop Mother has snapped up two of Asia's young creative stars, Jon Loke and Victor Ng, from Leo Burnett Singapore.

The duo will relocate to London in January to become Mother's first-ever Asian team. Ng, who is currently senior writer at Leo Burnett, and senior art director Loke, joined Burnett as a team from Publicis Singapore in 2000. "It's a huge opportunity for us," said Loke, who added that Mother founder Mark Waites approached the team after seeing their work during the 2003 Creative Circle Awards judging. "One thing for sure is that Mark Waites was very impressed with our print work," said Loke. "In the UK, they are relatively stronger in TV, but we are definitely stronger in terms of print execution." Added Loke: "We'll start in the new year and our primary role is to immediately push Mother's print work standards to an even higher level. On top of the conventional TV and print advertising, we're expected to work on anything from web ideas to T-shirt designs -- true to Mother's quirky way of doing everything and anything." Added Waites: "They've got one of the best print books I've ever seen -- we can learn a lot from them."
