Mortensen departure sparks Weber Shandwick reshuffle

HONG KONG - Weber Shandwick regional healthcare and Hong Kong MD Jill Mortensen is to leave the agency, with current director Albert Shu stepping up to run the agency's SAR operation.

Mortensen, who will take a break from the industry, said her decision was driven by “personal” reasons. The agency has also promoted Georgeana Fung to EVP of consumer marketing for Greater China.

In addition, regional technology director Scott Sykes will relocate from Hong Kong to Beijing. The healthcare practice, which Mortensen led with considerable success over the past four years, will continue to be headed by regional director Stephen Morgan.

Weber Shandwick global CEO Harris Diamond also confirmed that regional president Andrew Pirie, who resigned his role earlier this year, will retain a senior role focused on client service and strategy until 2008.

Pirie will relocate from Singapore to New Zealand by the end of the year. Diamond said that the agency’s long-term goal is to appoint a successor for Pirie.

Meanwhile, senior Interpublic Group executive Tim Sutton will arrive in Hong Kong in October to become chairman of the holding company’s CMG division, which includes Weber Shandwick, GolinHarris, FutureBrand, Octagon, Jack Morton and Powell Tate (Media, 27 June).
