Monocle to launch weekly audio bulletin

LONDON - Design and current affairs magazine Monocle is to launch a weekly audio bulletin via its website, monocle.com, and iTunes, at the end of the month.

The initiative will reportedly provide readers with additional information to that contained in the monthly print edition. According to editor-in-chief Tyler Brule, Monocle Weekly will “explore the looming stories” within the defining areas of the publication’s editorial agenda, including global affairs, business, culture, design and consumer culture.

The bulletin is expected to include regular updates and features from Tokyo and New York, where the magazine has regional offices, as well as contributions and interviews from correspondents in Milan, Stockholm. Moscow, Nairobi and Beirut. It will be available live and in podcast format every Sunday from 28 December.

Brule added that each delivery would include a musical selection by culture editor Robert Bound.

The programme launch will be sponsored by BlackBerry.
