Momentum Thailand moves into branded content

BANGKOK - As part of its larger strategy to focus on entertainment, Momentum Thailand, McCann Worldgroup’s event marketing arm, will be diversifying to produce branded content for television.

Momentum Thailand is developing concepts for National Broadcasting Services

In its first ever association with television programming, Mometum will be responsible for conceptualising and producing television shows for National Broadcasting Services, a government-owned television station.

The television network plans to launch a new channel for children this year, for which Momentum Thailand will be its strategic partner, said Yod Sukwiwat, managing director of Momentum Thailand.

“Right now we’re developing a couple of concepts for the channel,” Sukwiwat added.

Sukwiwat believes, the new channel, positioned on the lines of Discovery kids, has a lot of promise. “Cable TV is growing at a fast rate in Thailand,” he said.

At present, satellite television accounts for a miniscule part of media expenditure in Thailand at just under 10 per cent when compared to free-to-air television. However, of late, advertisers have been drawn to cable television as a cheaper platform than its terrestrial equivalent.
