Miranda to head NBC Universal's first Asian operation

SINGAPORE - NBC Universal has hired National Broadcasting Network's president, Raymund Miranda, to lead its first commercial operation in Asia.

Miranda will report to newly appointed president of Global Networks at NBCU, Roma Khanna (pictured).

As MD of NBCU Asia, Global Networks, Miranda will build up the regional office and secure channel relationships for NBCU broadcasts.

His appointment is effective on 1 November. Prior to this Miranda was president and CEO of NBN, a Filipino broadcaster, as well as MD of mobile TV for 360media Corp.

NBCU recently acquired Sparrowhawk Media, which owns the Hallmark Channel, as part of its aggressive expansion plans for the region (29 August 2007). Its portfolio also includes the Sci-Fi Channel and Crime & Investigation.

“Asia is a very important area of focus for the development of NBCU International. Raymund’s new role is important to the ongoing global expansion of our international channels, which is a high priority growth initiative for NBC Universal,” said Khanna.
