Ming Pao Weekly debuts in Taiwan

TAIPEI - One Media Group is launching its 40-year old entertainment magazine Ming Pao Weekly in Taiwan, a move that completes the publication's expansion plans in Greater China.

The traditional Chinese-language title, called Ming Pao Weekly Taiwan, is expected to launch in the second quarter of this year."The Taiwanese edition of Ming Pao Weekly will have localized content and selected features from the Hong Kong edition," said Noelle Hon, Marketing Communications Director, One Media Group."Although the publishing market is very mature in Taiwan, there are still few entertainment and lifestyle magazines targeting middle-class, educated readers. The launch enforces our foothold in the Taiwan market" The group has three established titles in Hong Kong: City Children's Weekly and Hi-Tech Weekly, and successfully transplanted MING (the China version of Ming Pao Weekly) in China two years ago, along with the car title Top Gear (licensed from BBC Worldwide), and Popular Science.
