MindShare picks up China Telecom brief

SHANGHAI - MindShare has retained its hold on China Telecom's US$26 million provincial TV and national press business, following a review that included four other agencies.

The WPP agency reportedly fought off competition from Starcom, OMD and two local agencies for the brief, after a comprehensive review of planning and buying capabilities.

“The client required strong demonstration of planning, very aggressive negotiation and buying, commitment and passion from the agency that they would award the business to,” said a source.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, China Mobile has put a new project up for pitch — to promote the ability to receive incoming calls for free.

It is believed that the review includes China Mobile incumbent Grey, along with Publicis China and two local mainland China agencies.
