MindShare picked for Lane Crawford

HONG KONG - Lane Crawford has reportedly selected MindShare to handle its media buying and planning duties, covering Hong Kong and mainland China.

Previously handled in-house, it is believed that MindShare secured the business after a three-way pitch that also included OMD Hong Kong.

While Lane Crawford has struggled in China, it is believed that the account will include work on the mainland.

The company recently closed its Hangzhou store, after earlier shutting its two other mainland stores in Shanghai and Harbin.

Observers have attributed the brand's difficulties in China to inadequate localisation.

The company opened its first mainland store in Shanghai in 2000, before closing it down in 2006, citing sluggish sales. According to media reports, the store location in Shanghai struggled to attract adequate foot traffic.
