Melbourne secures 10,000-strong Amway China incentive for 2008

MELBOURNE Amway Greater China will hold its incentive and training conference for 10,000 people in Melbourne in 2008.

The conference is expected to inject more than US$41 million into the economy of the Australian state of Victoria. The Amway conference will attract delegates from China, including Hong Kong, who will have the chance to experience Melbourne's shopping, restaurants and regional attractions. Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) CEO Sandra Chipchase said: "We are delighted Amway Greater China is coming to Melbourne and we intend to assist them in everyway we can. "In Australia, Sydney and Queensland have traditionally dominated the international incentive travel market. "This is a first for us and a fantastic opportunity. Amway Greater China will be the largest incentive group to visit Melbourne. "We are delighted that they have chosen our destination before other Australian and international competition." The Amway Greater China incentive was secured by MCVB in collaboration with Tourism Australia. MCVB is the body responsible for promoting Melbourne as a destination for international business events.
