ONE-DAY MEKONG DELTA TOUR, CAI BE
Cai Be is located 80km from Saigon, in the heart of the Mekong Delta.The Mekong River cruise excursion starts from Ho Chi Minh City with a drive to Cai Be.
Delegates board the Cai Be Princess, a deluxe sampan that heads south towards the Mekong Delta.
Delegates will first visit the local colourful floating markets of Cai Be, where the sampan will cruise among local barges full of fruits and vegetables. The sampan will then dock at some local home factories where delegates can discover the traditional production of rice paste-making, rice popcorn, coco candies and the longans fruitdrying process.
The sampan then stops at Dong Hoa Hiep Island, a peaceful escape where delegates
can visit an ancient mandarin house dating from the late 19th century and are served
traditional green tea.
On one of the many islands that are totally given to agriculture, especially the growing of tropical fruits, experience a short but breathtaking bicycle ride through quaint lanes and villages.
It’s then onto Phu An for lunch at restored colonial Indochine villa, Le Longanier, located the middle of the waterways in a pretty garden by the river. It serves local delicacies and western dishes for lunch. Make dessert a little different by enjoying fruits in the orchards.
Return to Saigon in the late afternoon and then enjoy dinner at the stylish Mandarine Restaurant.
