MediaTV: Rodney Fitch in the Yahoo Big Idea Chair

ASIA-PACIFIC - Rodney Fitch, chairman and CEO of design agency Fitch, says that not enough is being done to nurture creative talent in the region.

Fitch, who served as the design jury president for Spikes Asia Advertising Festival, says neither the design industry nor governments have put enough emphasis on encouraging creativity in Asia's young people.

Speaking at Spikes Asia, he said “There simply isn’t enough scope for these young people, and when I say scope, I mean there are not enough internships, there’s not enough training and there’s not enough education. We must do more. Inherent in everybody there is a creative gene and it’s our job and our duty to nurture it.”

In the interview – which is the fourth part of the Yahoo Big Idea Chair series – Fitch explains why ‘scam’ advertising is a “storm in a teacup” and why London’s Victoria and Albert Museum never fails to inspire him.

Previous interviews in the chair include David Droga, founder and creative chairman of Droga5; Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and creative director of Ogilvy & Mather India and South Asia; and Fred Koblinger, CEO of PKP Proximity and BBDO Holding of Austria.
