MediaCorp restructures key business units
MediaCorp has announced a significant restructuring of its sales, corporate marketing and news functions, barely a year after its last major reorganisation. <BR> <BR> On the sales side, personnel with the company's current news, radio and print division will be grouped under a new subsidiary called MediaCorp Enterprises, headed by James Yip, MediaCorp Radio MD. Meanwhile sales at the general entertainment TV channels will now be supervised by a common head, MediaCorp Studios MD Melvin Ang. <BR> <BR> The company has also set up a corporate marketing and strategic management division reporting directly to MediaCorp CEO Lucas Chow. Alice Tan departs her role as MediaCorp TV12 MD to become MediaCorp chief marketing officer. Lim Suat Jien becomes MD of TV12. <BR> <BR> MediaCorp is also gearing up to merge its different newsrooms in one 'newsplex'. Murali Subraniam will leave newspaper Today to become editorial operations VP, overseeing the integration drive. Meanwhile, PN Balji rejoins as editorial director, following the resignation of Mediacorp Press CEO Mano Sabnani. Walter Fernandez becomes Today managing editor, with MediaCorp Publishing MD Philip Koh set to add publishing and business development oversight of the newspaper to his current responsibilities.
