MediaCorp plans launch of TV channel in Vietnam

HO CHI MINH CITY - MediaCorp has announced plans to launch a TV station in Vietnam later this year, after forming a local alliance through the new media company International Media Corporation (IMC).

The Singaporean broadcaster has acquired a 20 per cent stake in the company, and will produce news and entertainment programming in collaboration with local media owner Vietnam Multimedia Corporation, with a view to launching a new TV channel later this year.

Lucas Chow (pictured), CEO of MediaCorp said, "This collaboration with IMC is MediaCorp’s first strategic investment in Vietnam and we look forward to lend our expertise in the areas of programming, branding, promotion, management and airtime sales.
 
Lam Chi Thien, chairman of IMC said, "We’re honoured by MediaCorp’s interest in IMC. I am personally looking forward to working with MediaCorp to tap its diversified media experience and management expertise, in the areas of TV programming, airtime advertising, and content production.
 
“We can also leverage MediaCorp’s distribution channels in the region to bring a good mix of media content into Vietnam,” Lam added.
