MediaCorp grows distribution deals across Indochina

MediaCorp Studios has inked a string of content distribution deals with IndoChina markets to mark the start of 2006.

In Cambodia, the production arm of MediaCorp TV will supply 600 hours of programming this year, an increase of 28 per cent on 2005. In association with the Cambodian Broadcasting Service, marketing activities are already underway to promote MediaCorp dramas and artists. In Thailand, meanwhile, MediaCorp has secured a contract to distribute 250 hours of Chinese dramas for 2006, which is expected to rise to 350 hours in 2007. In addition, Vietnamese TV networks have acquired over 350 hours of Chinese dramas from MediaCorp for this year. According to MediaCorp Studios business division senior controller Doreen Neo, the new deals are evidence of the company's growing clout in the Southeast Asian region. "This is testament to the quality of our content, as they enjoy wide acceptance by audiences in these markets," she said.
