MediaCorp drops print magazine brands

SINGAPORE - As part of its plan to consolidate operations, MediaCorp will suspend publication of four magazine titles effective following their September issues.

According to a release, MediaCorp attributes this move to the “changing demographics and advertising trends” and will consider reviving the titles - Electronic Gaming Monthly, Kids Company, Lime and Vanilla - as online magazines.

The media company will also print Style:Living as a bi-annual supplement instead of a quarterly magazine and circulate the title with Style Weddings.

According to managing director of MediaCorp’s publishing division Zita Ong, the decision to discontinue publishing the niche magazines allows the company to strengthen the titles that are performing well.

“While it is sad to see them go, the move will allow the company to focus its resources on growing our other magazines, as well as launching new ones and entering into new ventures,” she said in a release.

MediaCorp, a Singapore-based company, publishes and distributes 15 titles, seven of which were acquired this year.
