MediaCorp and SingTel launch MMS news service for Singaporean mobile subscribers

SINGAPORE - MediaCorp and SingTel have joined forces to provide MediaCorp MMS News to mobile subscribers in Singapore.

The subscription service will offer instant access to multimedia news from Channel NewsAsia, to be sent to SingTel mobile subscribers via MMS.

SingTel mobile subscribers can expect daily headline local or international new plus Asian entertainment news. Upon subscription, one MMS will be sent to subscribers’ mobile phones containing the top three stories of the day.

Edward Ying, chief of content and media services, SingTel, said: “The service helps people keep their finger on the pulse of the day’s top headlines - complete with images - even while they’re on the go. Judging by the response to the other news services that we provide, we are certain that this will also be very well-received.”

MediaCorp has recently ventured into other platforms beyond its print and broadcast functions, having established an outdoor division to manage advertising and content services in shopping malls in Singapore.

In July, SingTel had also joined The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA)’s FutureMobile partner network to develop innovation and on-the-move content for mobile devices.
