MediaCom Beijing wins Oppo's digital business

BEIJING - MediaCom has secured the digital AOR role for Oppo after a pitch process that involved Neo@Ogilvy and incumbent Nim Digital.

The scope of work includes digital strategic planning, media buying, creative work and e-commerce duties for Oppo's mobile-phone brands in China.

These include Find, Oppo's flagship smartphone, and Ulike, a high-end series of phones intended for women.

Jiao Yang, managing director of MediaCom Beijing, said the appointment covers various digital aspects such as SEM (search-engine marketing), mobile, and social media.

Oppo is also known for other electronic products such as portable media players. According to CTR, the client's adspend last year was in the region of US$86.41 million (RMB 530 million).

Three-time Oscar-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio has in the past put his name to products by the domestic phone manufacturer for a celebrity endorsement fee of US$5 million, according to past published reports by local media.
