The Chinese-language Telecom China will be published five times this year, with plans to go monthly next year.
The magazine is modelled on the same format as regional sister title telecomasia with content covering the business and workings of the telecom industry. Telecom Asia group publisher, Robert Ferguson, said: "There are 40 odd titles on the mainland but their focus is mainly on the engineering and technical side of the telco business.
"Our positioning is, therefore, unique. Our benchmark is to follow telecomasia's concept of focusing on business issues relating to telcos such as running a company, management and profitability."
Telecom China has a claimed, controlled circulation of about 31,600 copies per issue. Target readers - mainly in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou - include government officials, network operators, service providers, equipment manufacturers and distributors, enterprise network users and systems integrators.
The magazine is being produced in Hong Kong, however, Ferguson said that a Beijing bureau would be set up in September to house editorial, ad sales and circulation executives. The launch of Telecom China comes hard on the heels of the roll out of telecomkorea through a licensee deal with a local publisher, part of Advanstar's expansion drive in Asia.
