Media Prima launches bid for third radio station

KUALA LUMPUR - Media Prima Berhad (MPB) has launched a bid to acquire Radio Wanita to expand its radio business in Malaysia.

MPB currently runs two radio stations - Hot.fm and Fly.fm. Radio Wanita, which began its WFM transmission in April 2005, was launched initially to target female listeners aged 25 and up.

The radio station, when acquired, is expected to benefit from collaborative sales and marketing strategies between radio and other media platforms within the MPB group, while enjoying cost savings through consolidation of back office and operational costs.

“Media Prima has done a fantastic job with its current two stations, having brought about a highly motivated and creative team to run them. If they can replicate the success of its current two stations, consumers and advertisers would surely welcome a third within the group,” said Andreas Vogiatzakis, MD of OMD Malaysia.
