Media names Michael O'Neill as editor

HONG KONG - Media magazine has named Michael O'Neill (pictured) as its editor, effective 1 January. He replaces David Tiltman, who is leaving Asia to return to London.

O’Neill, currently features editor for Media, joined the title two years ago. He will work alongside Marie Green, the publication’s new online editor, who was previously responsible for website development and online content at Expedia and Media Contacts (The Media Planning Group) in the UK.

David Blecken will replace O’Neill as features editor, after nearly two and a half years as a reporter on the magazine. Based in Hong Kong, he will be charged with developing reports and specials, such as Asia's Top 1000 Brands.

“David [Tiltman] has done an excellent job for us as managing editor, and we will all miss him,” said Atifa Silk, Media’s editor-in-chief. “Michael has proven he is a great editor and we are delighted to see him move into this new role to head up the editorial team in Hong Kong and Singapore, and to take Media to the next stage of its development.”

“I’ve enjoyed my two years in Asia more than I ever imagined," said Tiltman. "I’ve had the opportunity to be part of an industry and a region that is reinventing itself. But more than that, I’ve met some fascinating people along the way and worked with the most talented team in the business. Though I will miss them, I’ve decided my next challenge – both professional and personal – will be back in London."
