Internet giant Yahoo continued to take the lead as the most popular
site among internet users in Hong Kong and Singapore, according to
findings by research company, NFO World Group - Hong Kong.
Following its acquisition of Taiwan portal Kimo.com, it also dominated
the Taiwanese market, visited by six out of 10 web browsers - three
times as many as its closest competitors.
Portal HongKong.com took the second place in the SAR, followed by news
website AppleDaily.com.
In Taiwan, local site Yam.com.tw took second place, followed by
Yahoo.com.tw, suggesting users there preferred localised content.
In mainland China, top websites varied according to major cities.
In Guangzhou, 163.com was the most popular site, while Sina.com led the
Shanghai market and Sohu.com was found to be the most popular portal in
Beijing. All three were visited by just under half of all web users.
