MEDIA-I: Webstats - Internet access in Korea on rise

<p>According to findings by research company NFO World Group - Hong Kong, </p><p>Korea has the highest internet access in the region. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>While the country's overall internet access was found to be similar to </p><p>that in Japan, its depth of coverage was considerably higher. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The researcher also found that internet users in Japan spent less time </p><p>online compared with users in other countries. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>It added that while internet penetration in China remains low, users </p><p>there spent more time on the internet than in other countries. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Internet users in Singapore and Taiwan were also more likely to spend </p><p>longer periods online. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The web impact index is a composite index that measures the extent and </p><p>depth of internet usage in each country among a population aged between </p><p>15 and 59 years. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The index looked at the proportion of population that spends more than </p><p>seven hours a week access the internet in seven regional countries, </p><p>including Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, China and </p><p>Taiwan. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
