Job seekers in Asia are choosing online employment sites over newspaper

classifieds, according to a recent report by NetValue.

"The fact that people in Asia are turning to employment sites for job

opportunities shows that internet users bring their offline activities

online," said NetValue vice-president of sales and marketing, Clayton

Fitts.

"This also indicates that some people are using the internet wisely by

choosing tools which apply to their professional needs rather than

merely for entertainment or gathering basic information."

Jobsdb.com was the most popular website in the employment sector for

three consecutive months. However, the report added, "In terms of page

views per user, jobsdb.com does not appear to have the muscle of its

competitors".

While the site has high traffic of visitors at 5.1 per cent, its unique

pages per user were low at 12 per cent.

Meanwhile, employment site mpgoldenet.com had the "opposite conditions",

with 24.3 unique pages per user and a 2.6 per cent reach, while

pandaplanet.com presented a more balanced formula with a 4.4 per cent

reach and 27.4 per cent unique pages per user.

Separately, the researcher found the profile and composition of visitors

to gambling sites remained relatively unchanged since January.
