MEDIA-I: J-Mobile venture to handle m-net for Japan users
<p>TOKYO: Japan-based mobile operator J-Phone and internet advertising </p><p>representative cyber communications have established an independent </p><p>mobile advertising company, J-Mobile Communications. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The company will handle mobile advertising solutions and services for </p><p>J-Phone's J-Sky, a mobile internet service with 6.1 million subscribers </p><p>in Japan. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>J-Mobile will begin service in the third quarter of 2001. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The company will offer interactive advertising services, including media </p><p>planning and sales, creative design, consulting and advertising </p><p>distribution through J-Sky. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>According to cyber communications' president, Toshio Arai, the company's </p><p>sales volume was more than Y7.1 billion (USdollars 56 million) in March </p><p>this year, accounting for about 30 per cent of the Japanese internet </p><p>advertising market. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The joint venture will be led by Yonosuke Nakagome, who has been </p><p>appointed president of J-Mobile. "The appeal of mobile advertising is </p><p>largely driven by individual operators' subscriber volume and </p><p>demographics. Through J-Mobile, the joint venture will be able to reach </p><p>a significant number of the 6.1 million unique subscribers throughout </p><p>Japan." </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The group has also partnered with Hewlett-Packard Japan and JCB to </p><p>develop a mobile settlement system. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
