KUALA LUMPUR: Channel V has rolled out By Demand, which it is

touting as Asia's first interactive television show. It is sponsored by

Hotlink, a prepaid service of telco Maxis Communications.

Star Group executive vice-president, programming, Steve Askew, said the

interactive element would give viewers the opportunity to mass produce

the show.

The station has established a short message service gateway, allowing

viewers to respond to issues or questions raised during the show, with

their collective decisions displayed on-air.

Viewers without access to SMS can interact with the show by telephone,

email, fax or mail. By Demand kicked off with a competition, Who wants

to be a Madonna-Aire? The top prize was a ticket for two to Madonna's

Drowned World live US tour.

Hotlink is also organising monthly webchats with By Demand VJs on

www.activateyourlife.com.my.
