MEDIA-I: Asahi Shimbun goes online for regional drive
<p>TOKYO: Japan's national newspaper, The Asahi Shimbun, has launched </p><p>a website to put its redesigned English language media kit online. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>This comes as the paper steps up efforts to attract regional advertisers </p><p>outside of Japan. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>International advertisers contribute 10 per cent of sales revenue, </p><p>according to Tsuyoshi Hamaguchi, advertising director for Asia and </p><p>Oceania. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The paper has also set up a Singapore sales office, and launched a </p><p>campaign to promote its new media kit, which targets advertisers and ad </p><p>agencies. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The media kit is available online at adv.asahi.com/English, and consists </p><p>of 200 pages, which include information on Japan's market and </p><p>newspapers. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The advertising campaign will focus on the site's URL and will roll out </p><p>in major trade magazines this month. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>The paper, which has a circulation of 8.3 million, expects the site will </p><p>enable it to develop regional travel and tourism accounts. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
