MEDIA CHOICE: Financial Times' 2IFC building wrap

Here's an innovative media that stands out from the crowd, quite literally.

Building wraps have been used in Europe and the US by clients such as Diesel and Ford, as well as the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympics. Made with high quality mesh banner material, these wraps withstand tremendous wear and tear, including harsh weather conditions.

In Asia, we have only recently seen the use of this communication platform, with the launch of the Financial Times' Asia edition with an ad that wrapped around 2IFC in Hong Kong. Another was a Red Bull campaign in Bangkok.

Buildings which are visible from a distance offer great wrapping opportunities, such as the UOB Centre in Singapore, the CitiBank Building in Shanghai and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

In fact, enterprising advertisers in these countries can aim to create their own local record-breaking ads. That is, if you manage to get technical nitty gritties (and there are quite a number of these) out of the way.

These include building engineering and weight restrictions, night lighting, government approvals, the appropriate licensing, tenant buy-in, safety insurance, banner installation and disposal.

With building wraps, you have the opportunity to create a mega statement for your brand on an ambitious scale, and take your communications to a whole new level. And probably have a story or two to amaze your family and friends with.
