Media: BBC builds 'cool' associations for Motorola launch

ASIA-PACIFIC: Motorola has teamed up with BBC World to sponsor a series of short film vignettes in bid to sharpen the cool associations of its new V3 Razr handset.

Entitled 24: Seven, the four short films were created by the BBC for Asia-Pacific, with the first of the series launching on February 14. Each film focuses on stylish, innovative and 'cool' new activities that have yet to hit mainstream Asia, but are expected to shortly.

The clips showcase trendsetters and trends such as 'mobile clubbing', where people arrange to meet in a public space to dance to their own personal stereos, and 'urban golf', where the city is a sports ground for people to create their own sport.

"Vignettes offer companies a closer association to a programme on BBC World than a straightforward spot campaign," said Narendhra Morar, commissioning editor, BBC World. "Sponsorship can add to a traditional advertising campaign and help reinforce the theme with which the client wishes to be associated."

Motorola has sponsored the series as part of an integrated campaign to launch the V3 Razr.

Neil Stewart, director of marketing, mobile devices, Motorola Asia-Pacific, said, "We feel it's a perfect fit that will appeal to trendsetters around the world."
