MEC's Malaysia head to move to India

KUALA LUMPUR - Manjiri Kamat (pictured), the managing director of MEC Malaysia, is moving to India in May, leaving her current position at the agency vacant.

Kamat, who is expected to take on a senior role at MEC India, has been heading MEC operations in Malaysia for the last three years.

Joost Dop, Asia-Pacific CEO of MEC, said: "Manjiri has been very keen to get back to India for personal reasons. The dynamic Indian media scene was an added incentive. India is clearly the market to watch out for in this region and Manjiri wants a slice of that action."

A statement issued by the agency also mentioned that MEC will actively continue the search for a replacement in Kuala Lumpur and GroupM CEO, Paul Corrigan, will assume the role as acting managing director for MEC in the short term.

Kamat has over 15 years of experience in the Indian media industry having worked with JWT, Mindshare and Maxus. Her client experience includes Colgate, De Beers, Standard Chartered, Tata Sky, Citi, DHL, Mercedes-Benz and Sony Ericsson.
