MEC strengthens interactive element in Japan

TOKYO - MEC has expanded its digital presence in Japan, with management consultancy Accenture and airline network Star Alliance both appointing MEC Interaction as online planning and buying partner.

The wins come as MEC Interaction adds two new members to reinforce its offering to existing clients. Julia Philips joins from UK firm CGap as associate director, while Akiko Miyagi takes on a role as interaction planner from SPI/Carat Japan.

While at CGap, Philips worked with clients such as Johnson & Johnson across a range of categories including FMCG, telecoms and leisure. Miyagi’s client portfolio included Tourism Australia, Nikon and Philips.

Joost Dopp, MEC’s chief executive for Asia Pacific, commented that Japan was a key market with high potential for development in areas such as digital, sponsorship and content development.
