McCann Worldgroup to launch Momentum in Singapore

SINGAPORE - McCann Worldgroup is set to launch its activation brand Momentum in Singapore, effective 1 January 2009.

Peter Yap and Philip Rowell have been appointed to head Momentum Singapore as managing director and chief creative officer, respectively. The agency plans to appoint seven more people including two in-store specialists.

Mark Ingrouille (pictured), directer of McCann Worldgroup, Southeast Asia said that McCann Worldgroup is on a “expansionist trail” and the activation brand was launched because of the potential of the Singapore market.

“This will be the first time we’re launching a full-service Momentum operation in Singapore,” he said. “Momentum operates in different levels depending on the market, but typically we have had great success in emerging markets like Indonesia or those with a strong critical population mass like Thailand. There is an opportunity in Singapore for events - but most exciting is the opportunity in retail, where we have been strengthening our expertise over the last couple of years.”

Ingrouille said that the agency is talking to clients such as Coca-Cola, Unilever, Colgate, Tiger Beer, Heineken, MasterCard and others in Southeast Asia about opportunities in Singapore.
